Client Description

By identifying and responding to community needs, our client has built a health care system that offers skilled and compassionate care to patients in 93 locations.

Awarded as a leader in wired and wireless health systems and a pioneer in electronic health records and integrated healthcare networks – this organization was experienced at using technology to spur innovation.

Project Description

However in 2009, they were faced with an imperative to take tens of millions in cost out of their business. They used excel-based dashboards to track key performance indicators but these were inflexible and always months out of date. How could they leverage existing technology investments to gain insights needed to make improvements where they would reduce costs while improving quality?

Our client decided to investigate implementing business intelligence capabilities that would enable evidence-based perfomance improvement in every part of their business – and that’s what we assisted them to do.

The goal was "one" – one place to access information about every part of the patient experience with data coming from multiple systems.

Results

In a 6-week pilot, we designed a system-wide business intelligence dashboard solution that surfaced insights, and provided a platform on which they could grow their business intelligence capabilities. As one senior member of the client team said, "This is what we need to find $60 million."
